Main Purpose of Position Due to COVID-19 and the changes to college requirements during the pandemic, NSW Health may make changes to the recruitment process. Position Requirements The position will be both clinical and administrative/non clinical.
Clinical Allocations :
1. To provide consistency of senior clinical cover working with the Emergency Physicians.
2. Supervision of Emergency Department Trainees and Junior Medical Staff.

Administrative Responsibilities :
1. Involvement in departmental research activities.
2. Involvement in Quality Assurance activities especially related to patient flow.
3. Coordination of Emergency Department Trainee rosters.
4. Involvement in education of junior medical staff, trainees and nursing staff.
5. Participation in Management Training and Education.

Responsible for the promotion of the health and well being of all patients, through the delivery of optimal, safe and cost effective quality within the philosophy and objectives of the Division and the Campbelltown Hospital.

To maintain a high level of professional conduct
To maintain the policies of the Macarthur Health Service, South Western Sydney Local Health District, the Department of Health and appropriate Legislation and Statutory Regulations.

To support the overall efficient and cost effective management of all the resources involved in the operation of the department.
Local Background & Environment Campbelltown Hospital is a teaching hospital of Western Sydney University Medical School. It offers most specialties and the Emergency Department will see an average of 40 patients per day. It is situated in a semi-rural environment in South West Sydney and is one of the fastest growing population centres of the State. A significant proportion of the population are immigrants and 28% of the presentations are paediatric.

Liverpool Hospital is the networked tertiary referral hospital and is situation 20 minutes away
Key Internal and External Relationships Director of Emergency
o Other Emergency Staff, including VMOs
o Clinical Staff (Trainee and consultants) from other clinical disciplines
o Director Medical Services, Medical Services Operations Manager and JMO
Manager regarding administrative issues
Supervision Arrangements The applicant will be expected to supervise Junior Medical Staff
Challenges/Problem Solving • Working in a busy urban district Emergency Department
• Interaction with inpatient teams, patients and relatives
• To provide high quality clinical care in a timely fashion
• Deployment of JMO and Resident staff.
• Balancing mandated training and education requirements with service provision, within the limitations of a busy public health service
• The department has a large clinical work load and effective time management is important to organize and prioritise time for clinical and research responsibilities
• Maintaining a professional role and responsibility for patient care, in close liaison with supervising consultants
• Working collaboratively with other staff in a multi-disciplinary team.
Decision Making • Ability to assess patients and formulate a management plan for their disposition in liaison with Senior Clinicians
• Ability to make decisions regarding departmental management and patient flow.
Communication • Communicate within multi-disciplinary Emergency teams (nursing, physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists)
• Interact with other Health Professionals within the hospital
• Communicate clear management plans to supervising Emergency Clinical Consultants
• Deal with matters of an urgent or sensitive nature
• Exercise discretion and sensitivity, and maintain confidentiality
• Demonstrates leadership within a team environment and actively contributes to team activities including meetings and decision making processes
• Demonstrate an ability to initiate and undertake discussions with patients and their families regarding their hospitalization, treatment and progress
• Communicate effectively and in a timely fashion with consultants regarding the patients under their care.
Performance Monitoring You will be required to participate in ongoing performance review processes in line with college training and hospital performance review requirements

Selection Criteria 1: MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia

2: Successfully completed written component of Fellowship exam or working towards completion

3: Successful completion of 4.10

4: Demonstrated commitment to and satisfactory progress in the ACEM Training program (or equivalent).

5: Demonstrated effective communication skills, clinical skills, judgment and expertise. teamwork, time management and problem solving skills in the clinical setting

6: Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.

7: Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self-education, experience and willingness to teach junior medical staff.

8: Ability and willingness to work at the facilities within the Network to deliver patient care.
